Win this ARC! Ask the Passengers by A. S. King

So, I read this book on Mother's Day and had a moment.  Maybe you read about it.  If not, read about it here: A LETTER TO A. S. KING.

Anyhow, I LOVE this book. Stephanie Wilkes loves this book. Christie Gibrich loves this book.  We were all amazed by the writing and the message.  So here's what we are going to do - give you a chance to read it too!

Good Reads Summary: Astrid Jones copes with her small town's gossip and narrow-mindedness by staring at the sky and imagining that she's sending love to the passengers in the airplanes flying high over her backyard. Maybe they'll know what to do with it. Maybe it'll make them happy. Maybe they'll need it. Her mother doesn't want it, her father's always stoned, her perfect sister's too busy trying to fit in, and the people in her small town would never allow her to love the person she really wants to: another girl named Dee. There's no one Astrid feels she can talk to about this deep secret or the profound questions that she's trying to answer. But little does she know just how much sending her love--and asking the right questions--will affect the passengers' lives, and her own, for the better.

Entering to win is super easy.
Just leave a comment and tell us why you love A. S. King or any of her previous books (you have read them, right?).  And, if you Tweet about the contest and leave a link to it in the comments - boom - you are entered to win again.  Be sure to leave either an e-mail or a Twitter @ so we can contact you if you win. Thanks and good luck!

This contest is open to people in the U.S. and you have until Wednesday, August 15th to enter and win.

  1. I've read Please Ignore Vera Dietz and Everybody Sees the Ants and really enjoyed them both. My favorite part of A.S. King's books is how deep she gets into her characters' heads. I found it fascinating to see Vera's and Lucky's dreams/imaginations/hallucinations from their point of view. Can't wait to read Ask the Passengers! Thanks for the chance to win!

    1. I love it when authors Tweet @ me. A. S. King also recently left a comment on one of my posts and it totally floored me. Some authors are both talented and kind.

I loved loved loved Please ignore Vera Dietz! It was so hard core, gritty and awesome, lol. Did I mention how much I loved that book?

I just read Everybody sees the ants this summer and it was just as great. A.S. King doesn't disappoint her readers :-)

  5. I loved Please Ignore Vera Dietz. It reminded me of Veronica Mars and I liked that not everything was perfect. It was something completely different from anything I've read and that's what makes it amazing. I liked Everybody Sees the Ants because it really depicted bullying in a great way. I totally believed the voice of the teenage boy and I couldn't put it down! I still need to read The Dust of 100 Dogs. I have reviews for the ones I have read on my blog. This is a great contest. I absolutely cannot wait to read this book!

  10. A.S. King has written one of the few books that I can honestly say that I relate to. Everybody Sees the Ants was the first book of hers that I read and it blew me away. I couldn't put it down. Then I read Please Ignore Vera Dietz at a time when I really needed it. It's funny how books like that come into your life and never leave, but you'd never want them to. I love A.S. King's writing. And I'm going to read Ask The Passengers the moment it's humanly possible.

  12. Thank you all so much for your comments. I love to hear how much you all have connected with A. S. King's books. For those of you that have never read a book by her, I wish I had an ARC to give each of you. Sadly, I only have one. I do recommend that you visit your local library as quickly as possible and read a book by her as soon as humanly possible. Also be sure and read the speech she gave when she won the Printz Honor Award http://www.ala.org/yalsa/sites/ala.org.yalsa/files/content/booklistsawards/bookawards/printzaward/web2011/king.pdf
