Storify: Tweets about YA Book Club and Teen Advisory Board

I always bring books to pass along to them. This is this month’s stack.

Saturday I had the pleasure of hanging out with some of my favorite teenagers at our monthly YA book club and teen advisory board meetings. Sometimes at our meetings, we spend a lot of time talking about books. We generally just read whatever we feel like and then go around and booktalk them. We also tend to talk about what’s going on in the world at large, issues we feel are important, and things happening in our own lives. They are a great, smart, diverse group of kids. We have homeschooled, unschooled, alternative schooled, and traditionally schooled kids. Half or more of the group is made up of Muslim girls. Many of them followed me to the group after I left my high school library job. I wish I could bring all of you along to one of our meetings. They are an energetic and brilliant group.

When I got home from the meeting, I tweeted out many of the things we had talked about (I’m @CiteSomething). I collected those tweets into a Storify, which you can find here. I hope you’ll take a minute to check out the many smart and insightful things they had to say on books and more.
